Finally!
The data gathering portion of my Thesis is done! Whew! I actually managed to get some teachers to interact with my e-learning app. Analysis has begun, and results are looking pretty good :-) So what! Don't you want to see what I did? Well, here you go. My TPACK (Z)app. You'll see that it is not actually fully complete. When I designed the module, I had a grand plan for it, but I couldn't get the whole thing done on time. After a much needed break, I'll probably begin working on the remaining core subject sections, as well as another end game activity involving classroom/tablet management.
After many months, I'm just about ready to release the beta test of my thesis/project. Afterwards, if all is well, it will be released to two middle schools within my school district. Today I finished my intro video, which will be the first part of the module that users are introduced to. My goal was to use Knowles's andragogy principles to grab the audiences' attention. I'm crossing my fingers it works. Here is the video: I was really lucky to find music I could use at incompetech.com. The composer there has some really good music, and it's worth checking out. Here are my attributions to the music used in the video.

I've been making some progress on my Master's Project, and tomorrow (today) I'll be presenting it at California State University Long Beach, even though I'm not done yet. To prepare, I made a PowerPoint! I also recorded some of the project in action using OfficeMix (free screen capturing!), edited, sped it up, and placed it at the end of the PowerPoint. From there I
Oh, and I got my IRB approval today :-)
The following is a Google Hangout I had with my mother and wife Roxanna. After taking at least 90 minutes to setup the hangout on my mothers' computer, I decided to change the topic on the fly. Instead of talking about the recent revelations of good teacher qualifications/characteristics based on research and student feedback, I made the decision to talk about tech integration into curriculum and how it supports the learning of necessary digital skills. There were some hiccups along the way. My son wasn't enjoying sitting on my lap, and my mother wasn't wearing headphones (she doesn't like them), leading to some very noticeable echo and distortion. Overall, it was a fun experience and we'll probably do it again :-)
You can download the audio only version here. The following is a short music theory quiz. The questions have been created to utilize Anderson and Krathwohl's modified version of Bloom's Taxonomy of knowledge acquisition. In order to complete the last section, you'll need to create a Noteflight account. It's free... and cool :-) Have fun! Score Template for Questions 11 & 12 |
